"And you must not turn aside, for then you would go
after futile things which can not profit or deliver,
because they are futile."

These are my projects.
Few of these receive the attention they need.
- Make a couple of small, but substantial,
changes to the Internet.
Encourage and foster
the development of plain text protocols,
especially those which embody strong encryption
and strong
authentication.
Encourage "real client/server", which goes
beyond the buzzword to mean strong interoperability
between
otherwise incompatible systems.
- Maybe stamp out spam in our lifetime?
- Linux from scratch, where possible.
I use SuSE and like it. I've used RedHat.
I would like to use Debian if I get some time.
But the true value of Linux is that it is free,
free as in unencumbered.
So I build packages from source whenever possible.
I ran it on a portable for several months
before leaving Rice, and now am blessed
to be on a Linux-specific team at BMC.
Of course it's my desktop system!
And we run it on most of the machines at
La Casita.
- As much Tcl/Tk as I can get my hands into.
Doing it on VM would add to the fun.
-
Internet SENDFILE (aka UFT,
aka SIFT), for which I
received help from GLV
and others on the
(now defunct) SIFT-L mailing list.
Complements HTTP by providing inverse function:
as one can retrieve things anonymously with HTTP,
so one can send things anonymously with UFT/SIFT.
- Internet TELL, aka MSP, Message Send Protocol.
There are working implementations of this protocol for UNIX,
VM/CMS, Pr1me, VAX/VMS, and MS-DOS (Windows).
- CMS TAR - released and useable, but needs work
