Welcome to Rick's personal page on the web.
I don't like to call it a "home page" because that term was
originally used to mean the server's root document.

This file physically resides ...

• If it's on a VM system then it's called INDEX HTML and either
  • resides on my 192 minidisk and is listed in WEBSHARE FILELIST
    -or-
    
  • it resides in a .WEBSHARE directory of the Shared FileSystem.
• If it's on a UNIX system, then it's called index.html
  and resides in a directory called webshare
  which may sometimes be referenced by the sym-link public_html.

Since HTML is plain text, it doesn't matter that VM is an EBCDIC system;
the file is ordinary ASCII when it comes across the network
regardless of the quirks of the host platform.

Bill Rubin, then of IBM, said that I should have a   mailto:   link somewhere on this or another page.
I used to have one, but the spammers seem to think that gives them the right
to use my personal time and resources for their own advancement.   So I removed it.

My children, both knowing HTML and the web, suggested that I should have a glitzier web page.
I'm working on that.
